Without doubt, the single most important person in the setting up of St Andrew’s School 150 years ago was the Reverend Fitzroy John FitzWygram.

St Andrew’s school moved several times, including to make way for the construction of the Croydon Flyover.

In September 1978 St Andrew’s re-opened as a High School for the first time.

In a speech in 1959, the headmaster at the time, Mr B. E. Knight, first revealed the plans by the diocese to build a new school.

Yvonne English joined the school as an infants teacher in 1949 and remained there throughout a 39 year career, retiring as deputy head in 1988
